Faustina Senior. Augusta, AD 138-140/1. Æ As (28mm, 9.25 g, 11h). Lifetime issue. Rome mint. Struck under Antoninus Pius. Draped bust right, wearing hair elaborately waved and coiled, with bands across the head, and drawn up at the back and piled in a round coil on top / Throne (pulvinar of Juno) with transverse scepter; below, a peacock standing right, tail spread. RIC III 1092 (Pius); S 4683 (this coin illustrated). Dark brown patina with minor loss on obverse, smoothing, tooling. Good VF. Very rare. The only other example in CoinArchives was from Classical Numismatic Group 66, lot 1506.
