19th CENTURY, Essex. Walthamstow. British Copper Company. CU Halfpenny Token (29mm, 8.85 g, 6h). Contemporary imitation. Dated 1814. Lion standing left, head facing / Britannia seated left on Union shield, holding olive branch and trident; all within wreath. Edge: plain. Withers 615; Davis 42. Red-brown surfaces, a few marks, planchet flaw. EF. A very rare variety with remarkably crude engraving. A much finer example than that illustrated in Withers.
