SCOTLAND. James II. 1437-1460. AR Groat (25mm, 2.18 g, 3h). First coinage, fourth fleur-de-lis issue. Edinburgh mint. Struck 1437-1451. Crowned and mantled facing bust within tressure of arches with lis at cusps; lis-tipped scepter to left / Long cross pattée; triple pellets and lis in alternating quarters. Burns 17 (fig. 508; same obv. die); SCBI 35 (Ashmolean & Hunterian), 684 (same obv. die); SCBC 5230. Toned, light scratches. Good Fine. Very rare. An issue normally found with weak strike and heavy wear.
