Diocletian. AD 284-305. Æ Follis (28mm, 8.82 g, 7h). Nicomedia mint. Struck circa AD 294-295. IMP C C VAL DIOCLETIANVS P F AVG, laureate head right / GENIO AVGG ET CAESARVM N N, Genius standing left, holding patera and cornucopia; SMN. Cf. RIC VI 27a (rev. legend). Brown patina, red deposits, silvering, minor porosity, scratches. VF. Extremely rare and apparently unpublished with this reverse legend from Nicomedia, otherwise only known for Cyzicus.

Since the publication of RIC VI in 1967, this reverse type is now known in Nicomedia for Constantius I, as Caesar (CNG 84, lot 1441), Maximianus (Naumann 76, lot 515), and Galerius (Noble 101, lot 3613, part of). A few specimens of each are now known but all remain extremely rare.
