Philip I. AD 244-249. Æ Sestertius (27mm, 16.12 g, 12h). Ludi Saeculares (Secular Games) issue, commemorating the 1000th anniversary of Rome. Rome mint, 6th officina. 10th emission, AD 249. Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right / SAECVLVM NOVVM, S C in exergue, octastyle temple of Roma with statue of Roma seated facing in center; on pediment, two Victories at sides and facing biga on top; on the tympanum, a bas-relief with standing figure, flanked by prone figures. RIC IV 164 corr. (rev. legend); Banti 53. Green-brown patina. Near VF. The scarcer variety with figures on the tympanum.
