GALATIA, Pessinos. Late 1st century BC. Æ (16.5mm, 3.83 g, 12h). Turreted head of Tyche right / Lion seated right. SNG BN 2565–8; HGC 7, 769. Earthen dark green patina. Near VF. Rare.

Pessinos was the capital of the Galatian kingdom, and this issue, struck in the name of “The Mother of the Gods,” is thought to have been struck by or for the sanctuary of Kybele Agdatis for use at religious festivals.
