BITHYNIA, Kalchedon. Circa mid 220s BC. AR Tetradrachm (32.5mm, 16.78 g, 12h). In the name and types of Lysimachos of Thrace. Diademed head of the deified Alexander right, with horn of Ammon / Athena Nikephoros seated left, left arm resting on shield, transverse spear in background; ΣT monogram to inner left, K on throne, grain ear in exergue. Marinescu Issue 47, 111 (O44/R100); Türkoğlu L02b; HGC 7, 526. Minor double strike on obverse, trace deposits on reverse. Good VF. Very rare, only seven tetradrachms of this issue recorded by Marinescu, only one in CoinArchives (CNG E-314, lot 66 = CNG E-244, lot 14). |
