BYZANTINE. Bronze octagonal weight. Circa 900-1200 AD. (25 mm, 21.14 g). Marked with “X” four times around the top in a cross. On the face, an inscription in Greek: BAΛANTIOXOV around a central *. On the edge, three drill points per side. Surmounted by an attached loop and a twisted ring for suspension. Some deposits. Intact. Website shipping rates do not apply.

The weight of the piece represents a debased Uncia weight from the late Eastern Empire (with debasement at about 80% of the official weight.)
