Germanicus. Died AD 19. Æ Dupondius (30mm, 15.39 g, 7h). Rome mint. Struck under Gaius (Caligula), AD 37-41. Germanicus driving triumphal quadriga right, holding eagle-tipped scepter and reins / Germanicus standing left, raising hand and holding aquila. RIC I 57 (Gaius). VF, pleasing dark brown patina.

Like his great-grandfather Augustus did with Divus Julius Caesar, Gaius ‘Caligula’ had coins struck which honored his father, the great general Germanicus.
