Tiaraed bust left wearing stola / Virgin Mary in halo of 12 stars among clouds standing on serpent which rests on globe; crescent behind set on globe, all in quadrilobe // Gregory XVI. 1831-1846. Æ 51mm. by G. Girometti. RY 10. Dated 1840 on reverse (in Roman numerals.) Capped bust right wearing stola / Cross in rays set on globe resting on clouds. Apparently artificially toned and with fields lightly burnished, as made // Pius IX. 1846-1878. AR 44mm. by P. Girometti. RY 10. Capped bust right wearing stola / Pope standing left, blessing patient holding cross, lying in chamber hung with drapery; three attendants, one helmeted, stand to right of Pope; another, at left, kneels right with outstretched hand.
