[Perkins Collection] Boston Museum of Fine Arts. Guide to the Catherine Page Perkins Collection of Greek and Roman Coins. (Cambridge, 1902.) vii, 111 pages, with 5 photographic plates. 12mo, printed card covers, tissue guards between plates. Fine condition, covers seperating from text.

In the introduction, Edward Robinson, Director of the Museum states "...this Guide has therefore been prepared by an expert on the subject, whose name is withheld at his request." There is apparently no record of who this expert was. However, with this booklet is a handwritten letter on Museum stationery dated 20 November 1902, addressed to "My Dear Appleton" and begins, "Late in time behold he comes! Will you please accept a copy of the Coin Guide?" This letter is signed by a Matt Prichard. The implication seems obvious, that Prichard is the author of the catalogue. The "expert" if that is who he is, does not seem to have produced any further numismatic-related works.
