CYPRUS, Kition? Circa 4th century BC. AR Drachm (16mm, 3.02 g, 12h). Herakles advancing right, wielding club and bow / Persian king grasping stag by the horns, all in incuse square. Unpublished in the standard references. VF, moderate porosity.

The obverse type would seem to link this coin to the issues of Kition, but the Persian royal motif on the reverse is not typical of the period of the autonomous kings of Cyprus. Perhaps a satrapal issue on the mainland, reflecting Cypriot influence.
