BOIOTIA, Federal Coinage. Circa 225-171 BC. Æ 15mm (2.01 g). Boiotian shield, vertical club along the middle / Nike standing left, resting on trident and holding patera; [B]OIWTWN downward on right. Head, Boeotia p. 90 corr. (patera, not wreath); Imhoof-Blumer, Boeotiens, 34 (with line drawing); SNG Cop. 394 corr. (same rev. die; club along centre of shield). Good VF, medium brown patina. Extremely rare. ($300)

The sharing of reverse dies between this coin and SNG Cop. 394 almost guarantees the existence of a club along the shield of the Copenhagen coin. In fact, a trace of it can be seen in the original catalogue (not the reprint) although it is so worn that it was not noticed during cataloguing.
