Boiotian shield, club left across upper half / Youthful head of Herakles right, wearing lion's skin headdress; E-P upward on right; all within incuse concave circle. Unlike the other two named obols, KL (see lot 535 above) and QE (see lots 547 and 548 below) there is no other magistrate's name starting with EP so the attribution of this obol to the famous Epaminondas is secure.
