BOIOTIA, Federal Coinage. 338-circa 300 BC. Lot of two Æ. Both coins: Boiotian shield / Ornamented trident upward, with curved crossbar; BOIWTWN upward on left, dolphin upward on right. Varieties: (a) Æ 14mm (2.39 g). A to lower right. This variety unpublished in the standard references // (b) Æ 15mm (2.24 g). D to lower right. SNG Cop. 180. Scarce. Coins Fine and VF, respectively. Two (2) coins in lot. ($150)

The shape of (b)'s shield is very close to some of the shields on the anonymous drachms and hemidrachms struck towards the end of the century. See especially lots 64, 65, and 74 below.
