BOIOTIA, Federal Coinage. Circa 475-450 BC. AR Hemiobol (0.29 g). Half Boiotian shield / Wheel of four spokes in incuse square. SNG Lockett 1766 (this coin). Good Fine, even dark grey tone. Very rare. ($200)

Ex Dr. J.S. Wilkinson Collection (Malter 49, 15 November 1992), lot 434; R.C. Lockett Collection (Glendining 27 May 1959), lot 1608 (part).

Comparing the reverse of this coin with the reverse of the next coin illustrated on the Lockett plate (no 1767), shows very clearly the difference between a wheel and a "theta" (q). However, at the time both coins were catalogued as having wheel reverses and this coin, because of its low weight, was described as a Tetartemorion.
