[Antiquities] ROMAN. Bimetallic key. Circa 2nd-3rd century AD. Length 120mm. A massive bronze and iron bi-metallic key, probably for a strongbox. Iron teeth and shaft attached to bronze handle of architectural form, with stepped column shaft topped by open-work four-column frame around the shaft. Looped at the top, with two smaller open circles within the loop. Impressive ancient artifact. Excellent condition; the iron is stable and the bronze covered with thick green patina. Rare. ($300)
