SELEUKID KINGS of SYRIA. Antiochos I Soter. Sole Reign, 280-261 BC. AR Tetradrachm (29mm, 17.12 gm, 7h). Ekbatana mint. Diademed head of Antiochos right / BASILEWS ANTIOCOU, Apollo seated left on omphalos, nude but for slight drapery on right thigh, holding three arrows in right hand, left hand resting on bow; to inner left, monogram above and below arrows, forepart of horse grazing left. SC 409.1a; ESM -; SNG Spaer -; Houghton -. Choice EF. Wonderful high relief Hellenistic portrait.

The grazing horse forepart is the mint symbol for Ekbatana on Antiochos' issues. What is exceptional, and non-canonic, is that on Ekbatana issues, Apollo holds three arrows rather than the standardized one arrow.
