KINGS of MACEDON. Antigonos III Doson. 229-221 BC. AR Tetradrachm (16.90 gm, 12h). Amphipolis(?) mint. Struck circa 227-225 BC. Wreathed head of Poseidon right / BASILEWS ANTIGONOU on side of prow, upon which Apollo is seated left, holding a bow in his outstretched hand; monogram below. EHC 436; cf. AMNG III 4 (Antigonos II Gonatas); SNG Alpha Bank 1046; SNG München 1121. Superb EF. Unusually well struck for this series. ($4000)
