MACEDON, Akanthos. Circa 430-390 BC. AR Tetradrachm (14.38 gm, 7h). Alexis, magistrate. Lion right, attacking bull kneeling to left; ALEXIS in exergue / AKA-N-QIO-N in shallow incuse around quadripartite square, the quarters raised and granulated. Desneux 145b (D137/R141) = Boston MFA 532 = Warren 545 (this coin); AMNG III 29; SNG ANS 15 var. (no exergual line). Good VF, toned, struck with slightly worn obverse die. ($2500)
