KINGS of THRACE. Lysimachos. 323-281 BC. AR Tetradrachm (28mm, 16.62 gm). Perinthos mint. Struck circa 283-279 BC. Diademed head of deified Alexander right, wearing horn of Ammon / Athena Nikephoros seated left, holding Nike and resting arm on shield, spear behind; two horse protomes joined back to back and monogram in inner left field, ZW(?) in exergue. The conjoined horse foreparts are the recognized mint symbol for these issues. The attribution of them to the mint of Perinthos, however, is tentative. If such a Lysimachian mint did exist, these issues must have been struck shortly before or after the battle of Korupedion.
