Q. Cassius Longinus, a possible cousin of Caesar's assassin, in 52 BC served as Pompey's quaestor in Further Spain, where he gained a reputation for rapacity. In 49 BC he sided with Caesar and subsequently appointed him governor of Further Spain, where he was even more rapacious.
