Sold for $62. This amount does not include the buyer’s fee.

SCOTLAND. Alexander III. 1249-1286. AR Penny (18mm, 1.54 gm). First coinage, circa 1250-1280. Glasgow mint (?), moneyer Walter. Type VIII. Crowned head left, holding sceptre before / WALTER ON [G] (retrograde), voided long cross with four six-pointed mullets. Burns-; SCBC 5048. Good Fine.

The style looks right for a Type VIII penny of Glasgow. The retrograde reverse legend must be merely a bad engraver's blunder.
