ANGLO-SAXON, Kings of All England. Cnut. 1016-1035. AR Penny (18mm, 0.99 g, 6h). Pointed Helmet type (BMC xiv, Hild. G). London mint; Eadweald, moneyer. Struck circa 1023-1030. Bust left, wearing pointed helmet; trefoil-tipped scepter before / + EΛ · D · PΘL · DΘN LVND, voided short cross, limbs united at base by two concentric circles with pellet in center; in each angle, broken annulet enclosing pellet. SCBI 14 (Copenhagen), 2373 = Bruun 585 (this coin); North 787; SCBC 1158. Superb iridescent toning, a few diescrete peck marks. EF. Well struck.
