Glass head flask. Roman, 2nd-4th centuries AD. Mold-blown with everted rim, cylindrical neck, and flat base. The body is in the form of a single head of a child with bulging eyes, prominent cheeks, and a coiffure consisting of a series of thick locks. Height: 10.2cm. Light green glass with areas of thick brown encrustation. Intact.


Such “head flasks” typically feature two or more heads on the body, rather than one. This piece would have been produced in the eastern Mediterranean.
