Claudius. AD 41-54. Æ Dupondius(?) (31.8mm, 13.96 g, 5h). Contemporary imitation of Rome mint issue. Laureate head right; countermark: DV within rectangular incuse / Spes advancing left, holding up flower and raising hem of skirt. For coin prototype: cf. RIC I 99; for countermark: Pangerl 85. Fine, brown patina with touches of green; countermark: VF.
Martini notes in his catalogue of the Pangerl collection that the DV countermark may be an abbreviated version of the DVP (dupondius) countermark (Pangerl 46).
