Struck 822-840. + HLVDOVVICVS IMP, cross pattée; pellets in quarters / XPISTIANA RELIGIO, temple façade. Coupland, Money, Group G; Depeyrot 1179; M&G 472; MEC 1, –. VF, toned.

From the Simon Coupland Collection. Ex Künker 217 (9 October 2012), lot 2114.

This particular coin has the very unusual feature of an additional point at the end of one arm of the obverse cross, while the obverse legend opens with the characteristic HL ligature. The forms of certain letters are also very typical for the group: A and V consisting of two Is, and the D made up of an I and a backward C. [S. Coupland]
