Andronicus II Palaeologus, with Michael IX. 1282-1328. AV Hyperpyron (22mm, 4.49 g, 6h). Thessalonica mint. Struck circa 1294-1303. Half-length figure of the Virgin Mary, orans, within city walls with six towers / Christ standing facing, blessing Andronicus II and Michael IX kneeling to either side. DOC –; PCPC p. 45, 112 (cf. 207 for type); SB 2396. Good VF, toned, two flan splits, edge clipped. Rare without sigla markings on either side.
