IONIA, Uncertain. Circa 625-600 BC. EL Stater (19.5mm, 16.58 g). Phokaic standard. Schematic rosette within linear circle (wheel or shield?) / Incuse square. Triton XII, lot 308; cf. Traité I 224 = BMC Ionia p. 117, 5 (Phokaic hekte with similar rosette); otherwise unpublished. Good VF. Extremely rare, the second known.

Possibly struck at Erythrai, which used a rosette symbol on its coins, and whose electrum issues were struck on the Phokaic standard.
