EGYPT, Alexandria. Septimius Severus. AD 193-211. BI Tetradrachm (24mm, 12.89 g, 1h). Dated RY 6 (AD 197/198). [A]YT K Λ CЄΠ CЄYH ЄY CЄ ΠЄPT CЄB APA A∆I, laureate head right / Sarapis enthroned left, holding a long scepter with his left hand, extending his right hand toward Kerberos, who is seated at his feet; L ς (date) to upper left. Köln –; Dattari (Savio) 3995 (this coin – obverse illustrated on pl. IV); K&G 49.27; Emmett 2687.6 (R5 – this coin cited); Staffieri, Alexandria In Nummis 193 (this coin). Near EF, attractive find patina. Extremely rare, with only two known specimens, both originally from the Dattari collection: this coin and Dattari 9203. This coin is the finer of the two.
