Steatite scarab. Egypt, New Kingdom, 18th Dynasty. Thutmose III (circa 1479-1425 BC). Scarab with simple details and piercing for suspension. Face engraved with the cartouche of Thutmose III surrounded by the hieroglyphs for Amun, Horus, and life (17x11mm). Some damage on left side of face.

The son of Thutmose II and Hatshepsut, Thutmose III was the sixth pharoah of the 18th Dynasty. He ruled for over half a century, during which time the Egyptian Empire reached its zenith.
