BYZANTINE. Palaeologan period. Pair of Æ roundel appliques. Mid-14th to 15th centuries. A pair of decorative round appliqués. One consists of nine incuse annulets around a central incuse annulet (2.36g); the other is a crowned double-headed eagle facing with wings displayed and incuse annulet-in-annulet on breast (2.26g). Dimensions of each: 19mm. Both VF with green patinas, the double-headed eagle design with traces of earthen encrustation in devices.
