Claudius II Gothicus. AD 268-270. Antoninianus (22mm, 3.45 g, 6h). Cyzicus mint. 2nd emission, circa mid AD 269. Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust right, raising hand and holding globe / Hercules standing right, holding lion’s skin and leaning on club which rests on rock; M/C//–. Normanby –; RIC V –; RIC Online 893 (this coin cited); J. Mairat, “L’ouverture de l’atelier impérial de Cyzique sous le règne de Claude II le Gothique,” RN 163 (2007), 42.1 (this coin, illustrated on pl. LIII). Near EF, excellent silvering, slightly clashed reverse die. Extremely rare, possibly only the third known.
