SELEUKID EMPIRE. Antiochos II Theos. 261-246 BC. AR Tetradrachm (27mm, 16.69 g, 12h). Bargylia mint. Diademed head right / Apollo Delphios, testing arrow and placing hand on grounded bow, seated left on omphalos; to inner left, statue of Artemis Kindyas facing. SC 549 var. (statue to outer left and monogram in exergue–same obv. die as illustrated example); WSM 1468 var. (same variety as SC and same obv. die as both illustrations); HGC 9, 238l var. (same). Good VF, lightly toned.

In addition to the placement of the statue of Artemis Kindyas on this tetradrachm, the monogram appears to have been erased in the exergue, much like the specimen of SC 549 that appeared in our Auction 105, lot 412.
