356, Lot: 486. Estimate $100.
Sold for $100. This amount does not include the buyer’s fee.

Vespasian. AD 69-79. Æ Dupondius (26mm, 11.36 g, 6h). Rome mint. Struck AD 76. Radiate head right / Felicitas standing left, holding caduceus and cornucopia. RIC II 887. VF, green and brown patina, some minor roughness.

Ex Classical Numismatic Group Electronic Auction 146 (23 August 2006), lot 208.

The attribution for this coin is based on the obverse legend ending with COS VII, but it appears to end with COS VIII. If indeed it is COS VIII, then it is an unpublished variety with a radiate head right. See RIC II 1001 for the type with a radiate head left.
