EARLY SKYTHIANS. Mid-late 2nd century BC. AR Tetradrachm (33mm, 18.50 g, 12h). Hybrid imitation of issues of Agathokles and Pantaleon of Baktria. ΔIOΔOTOY down right field, ΣΩTHPOΣ down left, diademed and draped bust right / BAΣIΛEΩΣ down right field, [ΠΛΝ]YΛΛEOMTOΣ down left, Zeus enthroned left, holding scepter and Hekate, who holds torches; monogram to inner left. Cf. Bopearachchi 1D and 14A (Agathokles; for bust and obv. legend respectively), and 1A (Pantaleon; for rev.); otherwise unpublished. Good Fine, rough surfaces, minor flan splits and hairline cracks. An apparently unique and heretofore unknown hybrid imitation.
