LUCANIA, Herakleia. Circa 390-340 BC. AR Nomos (23mm, 7.71 g, 12h). Head of Athena right, wearing crested Attic helmet decorated with Skylla hurling stone, and triple-pendant earring; Δ/Κ/Φ before face / Herakles standing facing, upper torso turned right, wrestling with the Nemean Lion; club and ΚΑΛ to left, |-HPAKΛHIΩN to right; between Herakles' legs, owl standing right. Van Keuren 50; Work 32 (same dies); HN Italy 1377; SNG ANS 62 (same dies); SNG Lloyd –; De Luynes 425 (same dies); Gulbenkian 54 (same rev. die); Jameson 233 (same dies). Good VF, lightly toned, minor deposits, light cut at rim on obverse. Well centered on an exceptionally broad flan.
