Justinian I. 527-565. Æ Pentanummium (16mm, 2.51 g, 12h). Carthage mint. Struck circa 547-552. Diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust right / VICTO[R]IA AG, large Є; CAR. DOC 306; MIBE 204; SB 276. Near VF, green patina with earthen deposits. Overstruck on an uncertain issue. Scarce.

Hahn (MIBE p. 68), based on evidence of overstrikes, dates this issue to the mid 6th century. He suggests that it may commemorate the victory of the Byzantine general John Troglita over Berber uprisings.
