CILICIA, Mallos(?). 4th century BC. AR Obol (10mm, 0.73 g, 4h). Lion standing right, feeding / Swan standing right; uncertain letter or symbol above, grain ear to right. Unpublished, but cf. SNG Levante 163 (for similar rev. type, but with different symbol). EF, lightly toned. Apparently unique.

From the Kelly J. Krizan, M.D. Collection.

Although the obverse type appears to be unknown, the style of the lion is nearly identical to the lion attacking a stag on the reverse of SNG France 426, an obol of Myriandros. As the swan is a type uniquely belonging to Mallos, and the general reverse type, but with different symbol, is known, it is likely that an attribution to Mallos is correct.
