SPAIN, Gadir. 2nd century BC. Æ Unit (27mm, 12.93 g, 9h). Contemporary imitation. Head of Melqart (Herakles) left, wearing lion skin / Two tunnies left; pellet within crescent and star between. Cf. ACIP 665; cf. SNG BM Spain 228-63. Fine, green patina, minor roughness.
The crude engraving style of the obverse combined with the nonsensical legend on the reverse, and the rayed star in place of the Punic aleph all suggest that the present specimen is imitative.
