THRACE, Hadrianopolis. Caracalla. AD 198-217. Æ (27mm, 12.10 g, 7h). Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust left, holding spear pointed forwards and shield / Asclepius standing facing, head left, leaning on serpent-entwined staff. Jurokova,
Hadrianople 282 (V158/R273); Varbanov -. Fine, green patina, numerous cleaning scratches.
From the R. D. Frederick Collection.
Varbanov 3457 is cross referenced to Jurokova 282, but the Varbanov illustration shows just a laureate head right, not a left facing bust with spear and shield, and the Varbanov description for 3457 lists the bust as laureate, draped and cuirassed right.
