ISLANDS off THESSALY, Ikos. 4th century BC. Æ Chalkous (15mm, 3.04 g, 1h). Wreathed head of Poseidon right / IKI-ΩИ, trident head; to left, dolphin swimming upward. Rogers -; BCD Thessaly I -; BCD Thessaly II -; HGC 6, -. Near VF, dark brown patina with some red, minor roughness. Extremely rare.


The standard references only record chalkoi of Ikos with two dolphins swimming downward on the reverse. The current coin appears to share the same obverse die with Rogers 558, fig. 315, BCD Thessaly I 1362, and BCD II 794.
