From the HLT Collection.

Before his death, Elector Johann Georg I decided to give secondary portions of his territory to his three youngest sons, August, Christian, and Moritz, while the eldest son, Johann Georg II, would receive the main part of the territory. The four sons met in 1657 to decide how to partition the land. One of the duchies carved out of the deceased elector’s lands was Sachsen-Zeitz, which was given to Moritz. As the first duke of Sachsen-Zeitz, Moritz built a palace for (and named after) himself and commemorated the event on this rare taler.
