MEDALLIC COIN REPLICAS, Roman. Tiberius. Cast Æ Numismatic Art Medallion (60mm, 140.70 g, 6h). Replicating a Rome mint Æ sestertius of that emperor. Made in Paris. 1971. Laureate head left; Gonzaga collector’s mark (eagle) in die to right. Edge: (cornucopia) CUIVRE 1971 № 156 /500 / CLEMENTIA, ornate clipeus with facing bust of emperor in center; S C across field. Cf. BN 126 for prototype (with collector’s mark). As made.

That the model for this medallic reproduction is a specimen in the collection in the BN – complete with the Gonzaga collector’s mark engraved into the die – suggests that this medallic reproduction – as well as the others offered in this sale – were produced by the Bibliothèque Nationale for sale.
