Atl was a mercenary settlement in Sicily from 357-336 BC. There are three issues known from this settlement, the first of which was overstruck on Syracusean bronze drachms. The design on this first issue is the same size as the two later, smaller ones, leaving a lot of empty space on the coin. This suggests a very utilitarian purpose for these coins. What furthers this idea is the crude style. However, who the female figures are on this coin remains a mystery.
