THESSALY, Pharsalos. Late 5th-mid 4th century BC. Æ 23mm (8.24 g, 6h). Helmeted head of Athena facing slightly left; AΔ to left, shield to right / Thessalian cavalryman riding right, holding mace overhead; behind, footman walking right, holding mace; before, enemy footman standing left, shielding himself with his arms. Lavva 313 (V167/R223); Rogers 502 var. (orientation of ethnic, no letters on obv.); SNG Copenhagen 233 var. (same). Good VF, dark olive green patina, spots of red encrustation, hairline flan crack. Rare.
