SYRIA, Seleucis and Pieria. Paltus. Septimius Severus. AD 193-211. Æ 24mm (6.50 g, 12h). Laureate head right / Tyche seated left, holding cornucopia; at feet to left, river god swimming left. SNG Copenhagen -; BMC -; Mionnet -; Hunterian -; CNG 66 (19 May 2004), lot 1254 (same dies). Near VF, green patina, some vscratches on reverse.

From the J.S. Wagner Collection.

The ЄΓPH at the beginning of the reverse legend is enigmatic. Two coins of Severus (with Julia Domna) from Paltus in the Hunterian (p. 209, 1 and 3) have a similar first word in the reverse legend, ЄΓΓPHA.
