Ex Triton IX (11 January 2006), lot 1116.

Euthydemos II was likely the son of Demetrios I, and grandson of Euthydemos I. Although his dates are traditionally given as the final years of his father's reign, ostensibly as a co-ruler, it is uncertain whether this was the case or whether he was elevated upon his father's death and ruled for only a very short time. One indication that the latter is correct is the fact that Euthydemos II had issued nickel-copper coinage, which was also issued by Pantaleon and Agathokles, both of whom were successors to Demetrios in other territories. Regardless, his coinage is relatively rare compared to the other early Baktrian kings, and all of his portraits are very youthful, both suggesting a very brief period of rule.
