CRUSADERS, County of Tripoli. Uncertain. 12th-13th centuries. PB Seal (40mm, 45.22 g, 11h). Knight on horseback right, holding shield and sword / TRIPO[LIS], city gate of Tripoli with three turrets; main entrance in center, smaller entrance to left. Schlumberger,
Sigillographie - . Fine, dusty gray patina with some encrustation and corrosion.
Unfortunately, the obverse of this seal is very worn, making an attribution to a specific individual difficult. From roughly 3 to 5 o’clock on the obverse there appear to be the letters MVN, perhaps belonging to RAIMVNDVS (Raymond I, II, or III) or one of the variations of BOAMVNDVS (Bohémond IV, V, VI, or VII).
