MACEDON, Akanthos. Circa 525-470 BC. AR Tetradrachm (25mm, 17.21 g). Lion right, attacking bull crouching left; floral ornament in exergue / Quadripartite incuse square. Desneux 2 (D2/R2); cf. AMNG III 1; HGC 3, 381; SNG ANS 1–2; Münzhandlung Basel 8, lot 213 (same dies). Toned. Good VF. One of the earliest issues of Akanthos.
